Common Good's Mission

The Leadership Center for the Common Good believes a healthy democracy demands every voice be respected and heard. Our nation is stronger when all of us, including low- and moderate income people, have the basis to create strong families, invest in the future, and uphold dignity at home, in public, and in the workplace. A society that builds on the principles of justice, equality, respect and inclusion creates benefits for all its people.

At Common Good, we work to ensure that everyone has access to the American Dream by amplifying the voices and building the power of low- and moderate-income communities, communities of color, and immigrant Americans though collective action. We develop the capacities essential to hold government and corporations accountable, improve the health of our families, economy and environment, and reform our public schools, workplaces and financial institutions.

Inequality, in all its dimensions, is the driver of discontent and destabilization of nations. Our government does not take it seriously enough to deal with it effectively. We have to “push it” to the front of priorities in our Nation.

The mission and the message of Common Good exemplifies what I’ve been talking about for so long. It’s high time we have a Grand Coming Together of like-minded groups and organizations who are all working for the Common Good. NOW is the time!
